Matt Warshay

More than 15,000 tutoring hours

After preparing for his own SAT by attending costly group sessions with an established name-brand company, Matt found that there were no study assignments or follow-ups and that his personal weaknesses were not being addressed. Realizing that many students, like himself, were becoming lost in the crowd, Matt established an alternative one-on-one method of tutoring that proved effective for motivating students and achieving outstanding exam results. By 1998, in response to growing demand for his tutoring services, Matt created Jump Start Tutoring, Inc., whose mission was to help students of all skill levels achieve their educational goals. His emphases were, and remain, to personalize instruction for each student by determining their strengths and weaknesses, and to help them maximize their learning potential.

To date, Matt has personally tutored over 1,000 students in math, history, science, English, and Italian. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Fordham University, with a major in finance and minor in management. Matt has also received an MBA in strategy and consulting at NYU’s Stern School of Business. He is a New York state math teacher with certifications in ATSW, LAST, and high school math. Matt tutors SAT Math, ACT Math, the SAT Level I Math Subject Test, all middle school and high school math from grades 6 through 12, as well as advising and tutoring students for College Essay writing.
